C. Nansen is a Spanish artist from Cádiz. With an academic background in oceanography and geology, her early fascination with understanding nature through science gradually evolved into a parallel exploration through art.

C. Nansen began merging her scientific insight with artistic expression through detailed watercolor illustrations. Over the past decade, she has developed and exhibited multiple projects, including book illustrations and collaborative work supporting animal welfare organizations.

While her early practice focused on naturalistic watercolour representations, in the last years her work delves into abstract painting as a way to represent the intangible, to engage with the present moment and to the emotional undercurrents of uncertainty. The unique way of how the observer interacts with an abstract piece as self-reflection appears profoundly beautiful to her. Working primarily with acrylics, she creates layered compositions that reflect shifting perspectives — visual time-lapses that chart inner and outer transformations.

“I have never stopped painting. Anything related to art was my favourite activity when I was a child and still my obsession now as an adult. I believe that any hand-craft, brings you to the current moment, opening a space in the “now”. In this space you live all intensively and you are totally connected with yourself and the surrounding.”

Her creative process is heavily catalyzed and evolved by music and readings in psychology, philosophy, and science. Her work was first featured in SURES festival in Spain and in international digital art magazines.

“I believe that there are things in us - for example, intuition - that we may not understand or define, but somehow come out through the creative process. By expressing them through any kind of art, we get to know a bit more of ourselves”
